‘Project Arm in Arm’ aims to blend the common practice of gifting bangles and Google AI to help connect NGOs and forced labour victims. Armed with GPS and SOS calling, our bangles will be distributed amongst victims to be shared and gifted to others. Upon calling the inscribed number, Google AI will recognize their language (through Google Language Identification) and connect them to the same language-speaking NGO. Victims will also be served language-targeted ads to raise their awareness about forced labour.

Background

South Asia is one of the biggest hot spots of human trafficking in the world. Victims in this region, many of whom are women and children find it difficult to reach out for help because of the lack of awareness and difference in communication with NGOs. Since victims speak their own local language, there simply isn’t a way for them to talk in the same language-speaking NGO.

How to help them connect

Using the practice of giving bangles and Google AI to help victims of human trafficking connect within their community and reach out to NGOs for assistance. 
Project Arm in Arm helpline (7888) is engraved into the bangle as a point of contact for the victims to reach out. With every call made through the bangle, Google AI recognizes the language and connects them to an NGO.
Bangle gift packs are created for the special purpose of being gifted around the community during festivals such as Diwali and Eid.
Posters & Billboards are placed categorically in Mumbai and other areas with a high density of labourers.
Language-targeted Ads on Facebook, Job portals, and various local websites for larger penetration.
